Our intermediate training program is the second level of dog obedience we offer. The curriculum is designed to polish all the skills your dog has already learned at the basic level and to expand his/her repertoire of skills. After successfully completing this level of training, your dog will be more than ready to take the official exam required to earn the American Kennel Club (AKC) Novice Trick Dog (TKN) title and the CGC (Canine Good Citizen) title.

According to AKC, CGC is considered the gold standard for dog behavior, a mandatory prerequisite by many therapy dog organizations for your dog to earn a therapy dog certification, and the foundation for different AKC sports and activities such as obedience, agility, tracking, and performance events. Here are some of the details of what your dog will learn during the training sessions on top of the skills required to pass the AKC tests mentioned above. The program can be completed through our 2 week board and train option with follow-up private lessons, or you can just do the whole program through private lessons:

• Watch Cue

• Wait Cue

• Recall games

• Long-leash distance work, including stay and recall

• Intro to focused heel and touch pad

• Stand

• Finish

• Learning to stay in place in distraction

• Correct meet-and-greet etiquette

• Passing other dogs on leash

• During this program, all behaviors learned at the basic and intermediate level will be generalized and proofed using the three Ds of dog training:  Duration, Distance, and Distraction.
